Rain Season

When I first moved here, the veterans told me that there are two seasons here instead of the normal four.  Dry season...which is uh, dry and then rainy season.  Now it's not like a monsoon rainy season or anything but still it rains, everyday! And there is no garage to walk through, no car to jump in and no taxi here that doesn't have to keep there windows cracked so the windows don't fog up.  Apparently defrost doesn't exist here.  So here are some things I've learned in the last few weeks about rainy season.  Which by the way I think it ends sometime in September and then begins....you guessed it, dry season.

My Northface rain jacket works, but I also take my umbrella and hat.  Using all three will help but your pants from the knee down will still be soaked.  My jeans and clothes have hung outside on the balcony for 3 days and are still not dry.  At this point I should probably rewash them and try again...mildew.  My rain boots (a beautiful thing) are permanently stationed by the door, but I discovered yesterday, they are beginning to have some leaks.   Rainy season will bring a couple of students into my classroom that have been couped up inside for 23 hours a day...do the phrases, "cabin fever" and "bouncing off the walls" sound familiar?  I've got a new one... "rainy season sickness."  OH and the dog, try walking a puppy four times a day in the rain and then letting those rainy paws come back in the apartment.  I'm not complaining, I'm just sharing....lol.

I actually am very thankful for the rain because 87 degrees without AC is pretty rough, but the rain, oh the rain....it cools everything down.  Last night after a day of rain it cooled off to a wonderful 66 degrees.

Beautiful Feet....uh rainy, wet ones.
