Home Invasion
Well on Friday night I was invited to a friend's house to play some board games and was happy about the opportunity to bond with some other foreigners in town. To make it even more wonderful, they live in the same complex so it was just a mere hop and skip from my house. I wasn't quite sure which apartment was theirs, but I knew that would be easy enough to find.
So I called my friend and got her husband on the phone and he quickly told me in a very guy sort of way, that we girls just don't ever get, the location of their apartment. For fear of sounding uh girlie and all too blond I quickly said, "oh ya sure..." and hung up having no clue of the exact location of the apartment. I had gotten the number, but wasn't sure which building or stairwell. So with his directions, I tried my best to figure out the building and stairwell. I buzzed a couple of apartment and no one answered so I thought I'll try one more before I call them back. I buzzed on another door that was there apartment number and I heard the door click open...aha!!! I just assumed because no one said anything that it must be the right one. After climbing six flights of stairs (you aren't required to have elevators in this country unless your building is greater than seven flights) I was nearing the top. And as I approached the top I saw that the door to their apartment was wide open assuring myself furthermore that I had the right place. But as I took the last few steps in stride I noticed several liquor and alcohol bottles decorating a shelf immediately inside the doorway. I found it a bit odd, but thought oh well maybe they just have different views. As I cleared the top step and walked through the door way, I observed that this home looked very Asian, a little too Asian for westerners. That's when I saw her. Standing at all of maybe 4 foot 8 was a tiny Asian woman welcoming a complete stranger and foreigner into her home. She'd let me into the gate, swung open the door wide for me and was going to do who knows what.....probably try and serve me some of that liquor. She was motioning her hand for me to come in and just smiling like it was nothing out of the ordinary...LOL.
Well need less to say I couldn't really say much to her expect sorry...I'm looking for my friend and off I went back down the six flights of stairs. I did call my friend back and this time got her and very clear directions to which apartment was actually theirs.
And they say men are horrible at asking for directions...uh or maybe just horrible at giving them....LOL
