The strangest place on earth!

I have officially been in my new city for a bit over a week now and I have come to some conclusions. You know how Disneyland is supposed to be "the greatest place on earth," or something like that?? Well, I think that the new place that I live must be the strangest/weirdest place on earth. I'll try to explain.

This new city is about three times the size of my old city and with that comes some fun things. There are several parks here with great running paths, there are more foreigners (not as much staring), and even a Wal-mart. Sidenote: Do not misinterpret the Wal-Mart, it is still very much not like an American Wal-mart. Most prod
ucts in it are what you would find at local stores here, the clothes are still itty bitty sizes, and meat is still just laying out on a bed of ice for all to breathe on. With all that being said, it is still nice to have a Wal-mart! Yeah for Cereal! Ok, back on track....anyway, there is also a much older part of this town that boast touristy shops, western food, and beautiful scenery. There is a lake here too and I often pretend its the beach, I just can't find the sand....

Now, for the strange part. I guess because this place is quite the tourist destination for this area, they've put up what they consider fun or interesting things in town. Please remember that I said, what
"THEY" consider fun. There are many flower-like wire poles around, even windmills that serve no purpose whatsoever and so on. You'll see in the pictures below, but the town square here is one place they decided to go a little nutso with the decorations. It litera
lly looks like Epcot from Disney threw-up. First, we have a beautiful ceramic basket thingy filled with ceramic flowers. Just beyond that there are some lovely totem poles with Indian/Hawaiian carvings in them, further on you can see o
ther random buildings including a large off-white marble sculpture that looks like it might have come from Rome. Finally at the top of the hill a "great pearl" as they call it, that frighteningly resembles the huge silver ball at Epcot. Be sure not to miss the blue, white, and red poles along each side of the street that look to me like road markers from the Tour de France. I'm serious when I say it looks like they took every nation and decided to put something in the square that represents it.... Quite frankly, this might be the weirdest assembly of monuments/statues assembled in one place I have ever seen. I mean this puts Dollywood to shame.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pictures. Its fun getting to know this new city and its uh random decorations. Wonder what it would look like here at Christmas time??? Hmmm....

So whats the weirdest monument in your city or that you have ever seen??

I think that it is weird that a water tower is so importat in BG. Weird. It holds water and we have them all over the city AND county. It isn't the only water tower in Kentucky.
