The Adventures of...

My roommate and I just got back from another adventure. I need to come up with a name for our adventures, because it is looking like we are going to have many more..... Suggestions are welcomed.

Warning: Mom, Dad, and close relatives, you may not like this blog...ha, ha, ha.

So my friend, M and I went out this week to visit another local town and do some sightseeing. We traveled about an hour by bus to a junction town and then another three hours or so to our destination high up in the mountains. We would be staying at this rather shady hotel, as most are in remote locations. So rather than type out a big long story, I'm going to just attempt to list the events that happened in our two day stay. Please don't misunderstand, I'm not trying to complain, I'm just sharing...LOL

Day 1
3PM Arrive and check into the guest house/hostel - owner lady doesn't want to give us a key to our room, wants to open it for us every time. We finally talk her into giving us a spare key after offering her money. Very cold, very windy. Realize maybe we didn't bring enough layers.
4PM We drop our non-valuables off in the room and set out to walk around the city and get some food. The town is extremely dry and dusty but it looks like it might rain. Walk the town, realize there is not a Coca-Cola in sight only Pepsi. Psychological withdrawal begins to set in.
5:30PM Dinner, fried rice...rain begins/mud follows.
6:00 PM Calling it an early evening as we head back to shady hotel in the rain and I began to voice the concern that the road we came up on we will not be accessible if the rain continues. Freezing!
7:00 PM M & I play
scrabble on her itouch, rain continues, sunsets, boredom sets in.
11:23 PM We've been asleep for around 2 hours. M sets straight up in bed and I follow suit asking what's wrong. Then I hear what she heard, a loud knock at our door. Blast! Lights come on. There is in fact a man at the door with a flashlight asking us to let him in. He tries a key and we ask him not to and begin to try to talk. M begins conversation, I pace the floor and pop popcorn....rapidly. M finally discovers, man is the owner and is asking us to turn off the
bathroom light because we are using too much electricity. (M & I had left the light on for safety and to see to go to the bathroom, so much for that!!) We agree to turn off the light, he leaves.
12:00 AM M & I are wide awake, still popping popcorn and going over and over our little adventure with the owner

Day 2
8:00 AM We got about 3 hours of solid sleep, sore...beds are hard and its sprinkling a bit of rain outside.
9:30 AM Finally get going, walk to local noodle shop, breakfast and off on a hike. Search again for Coca-Cola....withdrawal sets in....break down and buy a Pepsi. Letdown!!!!
10:00 AM Walking on a cobblestone/mud road. Pass
ed by many vehicles and motorcycles.
10:30 AM Still walking, still drizzling a bit, nothing interesting in sight.
10:42 AM Trail/Bathroom break.
11:00 AM Take a small side trail and end up at a middle school.
11:15 AM Cross the great divide of poo....

11:30 AM Realize the trail we just took past the school leads right back up to the main road
11:35 AM Rest and Popcorn.
11:45 AM Finally see a sign for an interesting place, go down a muddy but not steep trail...pass an old man, several graves, now being followed from a distance by a dog...little creepy.
12:00 PM Arrive at a house. hoping to visit, no such luck.
12:30 PM Arrive at fun village, several talkative people, but no lunch invites...sit on a bench and munch on granola bars, snickers, and water.
1:35 PM Interesting old man and friend come by, we chat a bit, ask if trail leads back to town...he affirms it does and we set off again. Old man leads us through several forks until we are back on the right track. We get off track but old man sees us from a distance, yells and sets us straight again...LOL
1:42 PM Chased by dogs
1:45 PM Bathroom break
2:00 PM I think we passed a moonshine still...not sure though

2:30 PM Donkeys and a man. We ask again to confirm we are on the right path...yup, we're good. Still hiking.
3:00 PM Still hiking, still going up hill... bathroom break, maybe too much water. Over it!

3:30 PM Round the bend and see town. Walk in on the opposite side of town we left...we have now come full circle. We manage to distract a whole yard full of school children doing exercises. Teacher gives up and puts her hands on her hips till we pass.
4:00 PM Early dinner due to lack of lunch...discover there is no power in town. Find lone store who sells real Coca-Cola, PTL...buy a bottle.
5:30 PM Purchase bus tickets for 8:00 AM bus back home for tomorrow morning...another walk through town and back to hotel.
6:00 PM Still no power, buy candles and lighter.
6:30-8:00 PM Scrabble on M's itouch. Set Coca-Cola on window seal so it might be cold in the morning.
8:30 PM Power comes on. My stomach begins having issues...hoping it will pass.
9:00 PM Lights out but no one is sleeping. After the night before, we have turned the bathroom light off, but not sleeping. Stomach issue has set in for the night.
10:00 PM Sleep, yes, maybe...no. 15 minute intervals to the bathroom.
3:30 AM Rain and wind come, I hear Coca-Cola bottle fall off window seal....RATS!
4:00 AM Fifteen minute conversation with M, because we still aren't really sleeping.
4:30-7:00 AM Sleep!
7:45 AM Turn key back into owner, board on bus, Imodium AD...wait for driver.
8:35 AM Driver decides to make appearance, leave for home taking different route.
9:30 AM Driver decides certain part of road isn't okay, after we almost slide off the road. Makes everyone get off the bus and walk.
9:45 AM Still walking to the bottom of the hill, no bus in sight.
10:00 AM New bus comes, never found out what happened to the old bus....ride home
2:00 PM Arrive back to our town

THE END
