I missed Christmas!

Christmas week, I spent most of the week driving. First I traveled to Auburn AL to visit with friends that I had lived and worked overseas with. We had a great time laughing, playing games, eating delicious food including a trip to WH, viewing Christmas lights, and telling each other what we hated about the other...lol. M, I hate that you never have to dry your hair. (Sorry, total inside jokes.) I spent around six hours down and six hours back from Auburn, but it was worth every second!

So on Friday morning, Christmas Eve, I went to breakfast with Dad, then came home to hop in the car with Mother and headed to Kentucky. My nephew lives in KY and due to some car problems and work, he didn't think he was going to be able to come home for Christmas. Having been in this same predicament several years ago, I knew exactly how he felt...so, off we went. Almost seven hours and one Mexican lunch later, we were back just in time for Christmas Eve at my Aunt's house with all the fun and festivities. Festivus to the rest of us!!! It was a Christmas Miracle...hah!

As I awoke Christmas morning, I was thrilled to find a white Christmas and I quiet morning with family and brunch. Christmas day was rather laid back with family coming and going and a ton of presents. But as I lay in bed Christmas night, I must admit I was a bit weepy. I was thinking about Christmas a year ago and what it meant, what I had been doing then vs. now. My home this year was a lot warmer, there are more Christmas trees, more decorations, more parties and dinners, and tons more presents than last year. But somehow I felt as if I had missed Christmas. Missed the meaning, missed Him, and I had missed the most important part of it all, sharing Him. It was if Christmas didn't even come this year. It just felt so different and this may sound cliche', but my heart didn't celebrate Christmas at all.

Not to be all sad or down, but if I missed Christmas, how many other believers did as well? And if we missed it and didn't share Christmas, then how many non-believers still have no idea?

Challenging myself to not miss Christmas anymore and furthermore to celebrate His coming every day!!!!
